I figured you be be interested

However, I'm kind of confused as to what you mean. Do players have "armies" that move around the map? Are you saying that 2 v 1 only happens when a player abandons a territory with his army to take an uncontested one? This means that even an "abandoned" territory can defend itself without an army?

Also, how many armies should each player have? Should there be any armies? How should they spawn? So many ideas but this must all be worked out before anything actually begins.

OK, let's play this out; 2 teams (X & Y) comprised of 2 players each (team X has players A & B, team Y has players C & D). I see it going like this:

Team X goes first. Each player has an action point to spend. They can be spent in one of 2 ways:
1. Train an army or,
2. Invade a territory
(Note: no player may have more armies than territories).
Whilst still team X's turn, team Y also has action points that are spent by:
1. Moving an army or,
2. Defending a territory.

This is expressed by all 4 players before any games are hosted and teams take turns nominating actions starting with the attacking team. For example;
It is team X's turn. Player A must nominate his/her action first so he decides to invade the island. Team Y must now nominate an action so player C decides to defend the island from player A. Now Team X must nominate their 2nd action so player B decides to raise another army in an adjacent territory. To counter this, player D uses their point to move an army to the territory next to player B's newly raised army. Therefore player A hosts a game on island map; player A vs player C. Once this game is over, it is now Team Y's turn.

A few rules:
1- invading an empty territory (no enemy armies) is an automatic win.
2- no player may have more armies than they have territories.
3- if a player invades a territory with an enemy army, but they do not use their point to defend it, an AI player will be used instead. (In the example above, say player D has an army on the island. As he has used his point to move a different army, his army on island will be an AI, thus it would be player A vs player C + AI)
4- Territories, ownership and army locations will be on a map that is controlled by a single player and updated between turns (I am happy to facilitate this role).

Anything else or any errors, feel free to add. I'm just brainstorming to get the ball rolling.

To help illustrate the above example, I have scribbled all over Doom's lovely picture (sorry).

Wow, very good explanation, I think I understand how this would go about 99% now

As for the map, I made a pretty simple one. The team colors would be underneath the map numbers, the blue was just an example. I didn't want to write giant map names all over it, so I just numbered the areas. :) Tell me you like this or you had something else in mind.

3 North-South
4. Island

6. Great Sands
7. Mediterranean
8. Vvardenfell

That's perfect!

At first I was going to advise against white fields as only one player can build castles :( , but if we get rangers voted in, that map will be AWESOME for hiding rangers in all those trees.

Great work!

White field is also designed so that the siege weapons produced by castles are more or less unable to reach everywhere on the map :)

In other words: yes, depending on where you spawn you may or may not be able to build castles, but their power is somewhat nerfed on the map to make other strategies viable as well. :)

Also, it seems we have this almost ready! You are obviously interested, but we would need 2 more SUPER dependable players who would be willing to play for many months.

Yes, Love that. :) I built Guadalcanal on a similar principal (except they are still very useful if you are smart :) )
Thanks!

Also, re-reading the gameplay rules, I realized there was no explanation of what happens if you have 2 armies in a territory (both yours or one ally and one yours).

YAY! You're in, this is now closed :)

So, we have: First_Speaker, DoomCarrot, Hardeep, and RiverRaider. I honestly don't care to much what the teams are, but what do you guys think?

Each player may only control 1 army at a time (obviously). If a territory gets invaded and there are more than one defending armies, additional armies are controlled by AI.

For example, I have an army in a territory and my teammate has an army in the same territory. I use my point to defend but my teammate uses his to move a second of his armies to the invaded territory. My team now has my defending army (that I get to play) and 2 of my teammate's armies; BOTH of these armies would be AI controlled so the game would be the attacker vs me + 2 AIs on my team.

Make sense? Sound fair?

I'm not fussed about teams, but if we were to go on political standings, DOOM and I are Communist/Socialist... Makes for a natural alliance I think. ;)

Sounds good, and now RiverRaider has sworn himself as one of Hardeep's many minions, so they have a mutual alliance as well

And yes, that army thing makes sense :)
