Question about balance - ANSWERED

Hi guys

I was thinking of a new unit and what stats it should roughly have.
So I compared the normal dwarven warrior and the Minotaurus of the orks...and got totally confused.

They have:
The same cost
The same building requirements (none)
The same category
Similar bonuses (both against buildings)

However, for some reason the Minotaur has TWICE the effective health and, depending on armor, almost TWICE the attack.

On top of it the Minotaur has more speed and Charge ability
I can understand why the Uruk has higher stats or that he is slightly better because that's the strength of orks.

But doubling the stats of early game units makes the game kinda imbalanced if you play on smaller maps without Upgrade...

Minotaurs later will be moved into different place; also they will be remade.

For elves, minotours are nothing but fast tank (easily counterable. Even though there's no elf that has higher stats than it.

If they commit in minotours, that's easily counterable even with the difference in stats.

By the way. We are planning to change minotaurs from 1 unit into full mini-faction (like goblins) that will be locked behind embassy.

Would you say that for example
Cost: 3
HP: 27
Attack: 15
Range: 1
Armor/P-Armor: 1
Speed: 3

is fine for a 3 cost unit without abilitys and upgrades?
It's worse than the Minotaur in every aspect, but he let the standard dwarven unit look like a joke...

Just to get some feeling how strong units should be.

Also is there a topic for the new Mini faction?
It looks pretty interressting.
And do Minotaurus get a unique ability like Trolls or Merlocks as well?

No for several reasons:
1. Minotaurs are stronger than orcs. But not way too stronger. They also a bit speedier.
2. For melee minotaurs unique ability is their charge.
3. We actually are thinking about 4-7 cost value for minotaurs. And, as i said already, removal of them from tc and caves.
4. They do not have yet their own topic because we are concentrated right now on dwarves and after on undeads. I must admit that they will be part of sub locked behind embassy.

You should not compare units from different races with the same measure.

Dwarves are still work in progress and they lack a lot of features (runes and gold mines to accelerate production)

You also need to count what is needed for a race's unit to enter the game (e.g. how many embassy techs needed and such things).

With the right units it is already possible to counter minotaurs and, anyway, later they will be remade as a sub (as already stated) and charge will also make them vulnerable to pikes (like cavalry units).
