sailing and navigation technology

Create a sailing technology that allows ships +1 in speed. The technology would be an upgrade of the dock. Cost is 7 turns. Impacts all ships.
Second technology upgrade is navigation. Navigation would be a step up from sailing which gives all ships +1 in speed. Cost 8 turns and is an upgrade made available in the dock after sailing.

The upgrades make some of the ship units more feasible.
Anything is feasible with enough money and power.

Get ready to get your teeth kicked in, it will make for a good education.

Instead of making both techs increase speed of ships maybe the navigation will give +1 sight and researched in 5 turns

I think so too, 1st- speed......2nd- sight, should fall under navigation?

hey guys i think that noone would research the second one.
I'd make sight at first, only after i'd make speed

The first one should be "spyglass"
The second one could be "mapmaking" and allows more speed by knowing more of the surroundings (of course even thanks to the use of spyglasses)

Rowing beat

Sort of like a ship song or drum beat that would give the rowers a beat to fall in pace with, increasing effectiveness.
Would give a +1 to all ship movement
Research in docks
If you have a better name please speak up
As for images, perhaps a drum with drumsticks and written music?

Good idea with putting the sight first. You can stay more ship-specific with naming, though:
- "maintop" for sight
- "rowing drums" for speed (proposed in viewtopic.php?f=79&t=2139&p=34510)
