War barge

After Sunrise samurai topic I was thinking about a ship that might fit the orc race.

I ended up thinking to a barge were orc warriors inside can move freely and fight against their enemies.

The concept is that of a ship with no action/attack but just a good p.armor and 4 spaces inside.

Creatures inside should be able to attack in the same way as they do when inside a tower.

It is basically a transport/tower.

So,its a huge transport with units able to attack... meale units will be able to attack only groud or sea units too?

I assume it is like a tower. They attack units in their range within their normal limits (e.g. a uruk pikeman would attack at range 2 while a orc warrior would do his attack at range 1)

Given how most troops would be unaccustomed to trying to aim from a ship, I propose a "rolling waves" aura, which reduces the range of all ranged units inside by 2. This isn't just for the orc version, but anything similar as well.
Currently residing at the local ninja academy. I'm still watching though.

It would be good but we should add manually the units affected by that penalty.

Most archers, skirmishers would be on that list. This also balances the shielding a ship would give archers. I don't know about you, but I think a ship with 2-3 headhunter masters or catapults that can still shoot is very scary, since it is less vulnerable usually. Although headhunters are already absurdly durable, so it might almost be easier to sink a ship on one lol. That's why I consider them the equal​, if not superior, to even elf archers.

That is the real downside of big transports. No matter how strong are the units insiede but you loose them if you sink the boat.

Yeah. But if you plan to use it as a floating tower, it helps avoid getting close enough to get it sunk.

I think capacity 4 is too much. Maybe 2 instead and small units only (no giants)?

I don't know. Giants would need a transport somehow. They are too slow to be effective in sea maps.

While I cannot approve giants and seige units in wagons, for any effective use they have to be able to fit into transport ships.

Also ents (for future elves). I mean... they might use a ship to cross the sea.

It qould also be nice if a big unit might use 2 slots. I think this might be doable via jsons (a creature might just need a value of 2 for transports).

I think if big units can't fit in wagons, it is reasonable. Wagons can squeeze little units in a single slot in a ship, but big units have to have a slot for themselves.

That is also true. Also if you fit units into a wagon they won't be able to attack from the barge.

True, but that's the price of compact storage. Cramped quarters makes fighting hard.
