Pikeman IMPLEMENTED

Description: Equipped with a very long pole, much longer than that of a normal spear, pikemen were known to make excellent formations to bar cavalry charges, and keep other soldiers away long enough to have other units to deal with them.

Hp: 13/15
Att: 5/7
Rng: 2
Armor: 1/0,2/1
Speed: 3
Action/Turn: 1
Vision: 4
SR: 0

Bonuses: 450% vs cavalry, 750% vs elephants

@Endru1241 ,let's bring this idea to life!

I've heard you mention this B4, better to bring this about, than to let it to be forgotten.

Not bad, the imgs could do with some polishing...

Maybe edit from standard AoS units like spearman and Broad swordsman, so the Armor can match.

From there, we can see what to do next.

1st tier: Edit from Spearman
2nd & 3rd: Edit from Halberdier, for 3 give (a little) gold like Man At Arms

Or post Spearman and Halberdier img, and I'll make tiers. ;)

I wonder about this.
I have imagined pike being longbow countrpart, so 1 upgrade only.
Image more based on AoF pike units weapons.

Well can the damage swap to 5 and bonus damage increase to 500% and 800%to big mounted.

I think damage should be 5, 7. With the same 450% bonus. After adding real pikeman, spearman line can get some rebalance.
HP or armor may be a little higher, but lower on piercing (1/0, 2/1) - pikeman were after all weak against missiles.

About images - I was thinking of adding something similar to current spearman upgrades. Maybe add some armor and polish the image.

Maybe the posse of unit can be switch,not same aparence with a long pike.

Feel free to do it - I only posted a base. If it would retain similarities enough to be seen as part of the rest of base units - it's okay.

I would add him a little more bulky armor and different helmet - maybe just copy-paste (with corrections) crossbowman and arbalest.
It's actually more for the sake of making a little different appearance from main spearman line.

I think it's time to add them to the game.
It's only a shame we still have not enough cavalry to make them even more important.

Since this unit is already on the implementation stage, I want to suggest things for the unit.

Why not a small shield like the shield used by a Macedonian Phalangite

Also, since I'm on this why not add Macedonian Phalangite as a unit for the game or do I have to make separate topic?

Some pikemen used a small shield. Tye regular pikemen sidn't used. Ancient pikemen and swiss pikemen did it. They could be different units

I have allready tasted the actualization. I think pikeman and its upgrade speed should be 2. Maybe make an ability like forced march, rising its speed to 3 for some turns, then back to use it when gets coldown.
