In history, People fought from the cover of battle rams. Archers, spearmen, and swordsman alike.

Can we make that possible here?

I would be too strong then.
It would also be almost like faster siege tower.
Ram is already one of strongest and most useful units.
I'd rather nerf it a little (ridiculous pierce armor).

I was thinking pierce armor can be similar to siege tower, but go up with level
Speed start at 1, and go up with tiers
Also, Carry cap would go down by 1

Idk if cavalry can hide in here, but they shouldn't.

As. Payment for this quality.

Speed: 1/2/3
Carry Cap: 1/2/3

Carries any foot unit and can act within.

Speed 1 is too slow. Also it would mess with campaigns.
Carry cap 3 is overkill (it would mean 9 foot units in one wagon + 3 handy defenders)
I would just leave ability to fight from inside for siege tower.

And most of all - any unit upgrade should just make it better, not magically transform useless one into OP. It should be steady progress, not game changing boost.

About pierce armor - what is the highest damage any archer can achieve btw?
Is it 17?
Pavise 14 +2 from archery +1 from fervor. Am I missing someting?

Yes - deployed.
If that's the case 16 pierce armor is enough.

Then imho 16/18/20 for ram and 15/17 for siege tower with ballista having +100% vs armored siege would be good (to make it deal at least small damage to them - just visibly higher than normal arrows).

I'd say for battering rams to allow carry in the first place infantry melee units only.

They should have already allowed only foot units. If any non-foot unit can be carried it's a bug and I ask to write about it, please.

But why limit access to e.g. archers?

Archers used rams as cover, limiting them to not use rams is not a good idea, and unrealistic.
